Teaching Methods of Koala Know
  • Teaching Model: Situational Approach

This teaching method is based on a heuristic situational teaching model developed by British applied linguistics teachings from the 1930s to the 1960s. Situational teaching methods are used to introduce and create vivid and specific scenes along with certain emotional colors and images as the main focus. This will stimulate students' emotions and attitudes thus helping them understand the content better. The environments and conditions applied will help develop children’s brain functions. This method helps to stimulate a child’s emotional response which then helps the child to better understand and retain the information presented.

  • Teaching Methods: The Systemic Response Methodology (TPR)

The Systemic Response Methodology (TPR) was presented in the 1960s by James Asher, a psychology professor at St. Joseph University in California. This approach advocates linking language, behavior, and teachings through body movements as a dynamic presentation of the course’s material. The systemic response method is based on the different functions of the two hemispheres of the brain. It emphasizes the development of abstract thinking based on image thinking. Therefore, it emphasizes the need to teach in real situations.

    • Authority:
    • With the theory of Chinese character tree of literacy, the academic base of the course is shown through the advanced innovative application of teaching Chinese language. The core principle uses the "Chinese Characters Six Scripts," which is derived from the book of "Speaking and Solving" written by Eastern Han philosopher Xu Shen. The book is divided into 540 character roots to explain the origin of 9,353 Chinese characters radically. In addition, there are 1,163 "heavy texts" (i.e., different characters) with a total of 10,516 words. It is the first Chinese book that analyzes Chinese characters, researches sources systematically, and is one of the first dictionaries in the world.
    • Practical:
    • The learning outcomes of the course will allow your child to have the same language capacity as Chinese children their age. Also, they can surpass others in the academic exploration of Chinese language. This will allow overseas Chinese families to maintain excellent Chinese language abilities, close relationships with family members, and connect with their Chinese culture. Furthermore, it will provide the core competitiveness needed for future academic and career development.
    • Course Foundation:
    • The course is based on the American 21st Century Foreign Language Learning Standards developed by YCT (Youth Chinese Test) and ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) to meet the basic requirements and standards of American foreign language teaching and Language Learning 5 Cs Standards.
